Using Jungle Wood in Reptile Enclosures

Jungle wood is a great choice for reptiles that love climbing on branches, such as chameleons and geckos. These sturdy vines can be propped upright in enclosures for vertical climbing structure, or they can be secured to enclosure walls to create horizontal bridges.

Jungle wood pairs well with vining plants (epiphytes) in bioactive enclosures due to it's fibrous textured surface that allows the plants to easily climb it.

As with many wood products, with prolonged exposure to moisture, jungle wood can mold or rot. Cleaning regularly and allowing periods for the wood to dry out can help mitigate this issue.

Directions

Sand any sharp edges before placing branch in your reptile’s enclosure

Clean with veterinary disinfectant (e.g., chlorhexidine) or bake at 250°F for 1-2 hours. If baking, monitor closely to avoid scorching or fire.

Ensure the branch is securely placed to prevent shifting or falling that could harm your reptile.

Jungle Wood may rot or mold with excessive moisture. Clean often and allow for dry periods to mitigate these issues.
