Leaf litter not only helps with providing a naturalistic appearance, but the leaves also provide hiding spots for animals such as dart frogs and micro geckos. Additionally, microfauna like springtails and isopods will use the decomposing leaves as food. In the forest, the leaf litter may be several inches thick. Typically in tanks, you want to have the leaves at least a few layers deep and you should routinely add leaves as you see them decomposing.
Magnolia Leaf Litter holds up very well in humid environments so they make a great terrarium addition. Mimicking the role of dead plant matter in the rainforest, Leaf Litter also puts nutrients back into the environment, providing the stuff plants and microfauna need to thrive! Magnolia leaves look great when mixed with either Sea Grape Leaves or Live Oak Leaves in a naturalistic vivarium.
They are very leathery feeling and make a great addition to the naturalistic decor. They are harvested from areas that are free from pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides. The majority of the leaves that you will receive are dry, brown, and very few are broken or in pieces.
*Please note our Magnolia is measured by weight and not the number of leaves per bag.
