Default Advice on first time handling ball python??

I have been planning to start trying to handle my ball python soon, so I was wondering if anyone has any good advice or stuff I should know?
He is a VERY shy snake, so I doubt he's gonna try to escape from me. Should I just start by maybe taking out his hides and just sit in the room where he is so he gets more used to me, or should I just go directly for handling and take him out?

I wouldn't remove the hides. Just start with baby steps. As you said, sit by the tank for a bit every day for a few days, then put your hand in the tank a couple of times a day for a few days, then touch him lightly a few times a day for a few days, etc., etc., until you feel that he will be comfortable letting you hold him. Just be patient, and try going slow with a shy snake.
