  • Anyone ever have eggs hatch out of the laybox?

So this is my first season ever breeding..
I paired my male and female in march. Found what i thought was her first clutch in june, apparently there was one layed the month before that i didnt know about..
Tonight i went to feed/mist everybody and found a baby gecko crawling around the laybox.. upon further searching, found 2 empty eggs in the very bottom of the laybox and another baby hanging out in the enclosure with momma..

No idea how i could have missed these eggs but im really surprised that they were able to hatch just from being in the laybox.. 2 beautiful happy healthy babies

Any one else ever had this happen?

    Will post pics shortly..

Yep! I have had eggs hatch in the terrarium before. Usually if conditions are good for geckos they're good for eggs. It's best to hatch in an incubator to monitor them and keep the adults from eating them when they hatch.

That's wild! I have a female that laid duds in very sneaky spots before pairing her. Looking forward to pictures. Glad your hatchlings survived!

They're beautiful! Good thing that mom didn't snack on them.

I have had a similar experience, but not with a little one that hatched in the laybox. Instead, a hatchling escaped from the container where it was being kept and found its way into the main terrarium where dad, mom & another adult female were staying. This hatchling hid for almost 6 weeks like this before being found again. Thread here.

She's now approaching 2 years old and is still a mischief. Pics!
