Your viv's are amazing!!! What type of Great Stuff did you use? I just bought the Big Gap Filler version- should I be using the pond version instead? I am not making a background, just filling in some big gaps at the top of my backing so my little guy can't get behind it. I was also thinking of using silicone to seal up the sides- do I need to use the aquarium safe kind or can I just use the tube of regular clear stuff that is made for bathrooms that I already have... Thanks!!!

Sorry for the late response, I must have missed your reply. I use the GS windows and doors I believe, but the pond version would work well too. You can use any type of silicone, but just make sure it is completely cured before you place your gecko in it (ie it should not smell, usually takes a couple days, I would wait at least 24 hours at the minimum)

Hey what's up Empire. Just bought a 36x18x24" Exo. Using your's for a bit of inspiration! Planning on buying some Great Stuff "Pond and Stone". How many cans do you think I'll need for 36"x24" background?

Also, what are your favorite plants in your set-up? By favorite, I mean most durable, easiest to maintain, and most visually appealing?

Wow thank you! As far as the cans of GS, I believe I only used one, but I also have the cork flats mixed in so I didn't need as much GS. So I think if you do the same method (Cork flats and GS) then two cans should be fine. As far as plants, my vining peperomias are definitely my favorite out of both of my tanks; they grow very fast and create a nice lush look, and since they are small they don't give the "overgrown/crowded" feel. Pep prostrata is probably my all time favorite. After that, I would say my small bromeliads "chiquita linda" (my "fireballs" are nice too) followed by my two pilea species ("moon valley" and "friendship", both of which are in my other viv). Korean rock fern is another one of my favorite plants, although I don't currently have one in either setup as I didn't feel it fit either theme I was going for. I'm jealous of that huge tank, it should look awesome! Make sure to start a build thread for it!

            Awesome, great info.

How was your experience with NEHerp? Did you order any plants from them?

I love NEHerp; I ordered all my supplies and about half my plants from them; the other half I got from a local greenhouse which has very nice exotics. I also ordered some of the smaller vining plants from Tropiflora

Which one of the NEherp substrate did you use? Did you modify it in any way?

I used their standard "version 1/original" substrate, no modifications

With plants and supplies probably around 200$. I don't have many hobbies and I don't build a lot of these, so I tend to go all-out whenever I do build one lol

EDIT: I just realized I haven't updated this in awhile, I need to do a little trimming maintenance today but will get some pics up soon
