    Random question:
How many backgrounds do you think you could get out of one tube of silicone and one can of great stuff?

Depends on the size of the tank and complexity of the background...I made a background on 18x18x24 exo terra and used an entire can of GS. If I made those backgrounds on my 12x12x18 I might have been able to do 2 or mayb 3

Depends on how you make them and the size of the cage.

For this ten gallon, I think it was one can of great stuff and 2-3 silicon tubes. I silicon the back and sides of the glass to hide the great stuff, so you end up using more than you think.

What brand of silicon did you use? I know that most of them are ok, but I always get so overwhelmed when I go to buy it, and I just know with my luck I'll manage to get something I shouldn't use.

and you just use it to hide the great stuff? or does it make it easier for the great stuff to adhere to the glass?

Yeahhhh....i used an entite tube of silicon on the back, and I'm going to end up needing 2-3 cans of GS. Sheesh! I was going to do this with my three new 20gal's before I upgraded my subadults, but I don't think I have the patience or the funds! I think, at this point, one fancy tank is plenty!

Yeah, you do use a lot of silicon. It's to hide the great stuff in the back. If the tank against a wall you could skip that part, but don't skip putting the silicon on the side, or they'll be messy looking (and great stuff colored).

Another option is making the background like the one I made in this thread: http://www.pangeareptile.com/forums/...ht=#post484927

I think I would like to recreate this soon but I have a few questions regarding the construction.

Nice job! I hope you had fun. If it was my tank, I'd add in a few ore plants, but I really like a lot of plants in my tanks.

I wasnt sure about adding more plants. I will be adding vines because i feel like more plants means they can crawl around more and not jump like they should. This is just an assumption. Could be wrong.
