    Plants need the right balance of nutrients to grow properly. They need carbon in the greatest supply, followed by the "macro" nutrients NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium), then various "micro" and "trace" nutrients.

    Excel supplies pretty much only carbon. If you go with Seachem products, they make an "enhancer pack" which contain bottles of N, P, and K. "Comprehensive" is really just micros and trace.
