For names on the leachies, we've kept with fictional monsters. The crazier the better. LOL
The crested and gargs are kind of random but also not... Cresties are Bonzai, Chaos and Orion. Gargs are LeeLoo, Korben, Ifrit, Dorito and Arwen. The leopard gecko is Numinex. The sarasinorum gecko is Rorschach. And the Chahoua gecko is Spooky. Most are related to how they look or something about them. For instance, the chewie was hatched on Halloween so he/she is Spooky. Dorito looks like she's got Dorito's dust smeared all down her back.
And yes, Leachies can drop their tails. It's just really uncommon because they are a species that will fight back rather than drop their tail and run. Of course they do grow their tails back and you can barely tell it's a regrown tail. I've even seen a leachie that hatched out without a tail. In this instance because the gecko formed without one, it didn't "grow it back".

Also! The big unnamed boy is going to be Zuul! We've put a deposit down on him and he should be ready to ship out in about 2 weeks! So excited!

Jabberwock was a steal semi-locally. I found him on the classifieds pages on Facebook. He didn't want to ship and so we both ended up driving about 2 hours or so to meet so that we could purchase him. He's definitely one of my prettiest with all that pattern. He's for sure going to be a killer male once he gets up to breeding weight.
Cthulhu is a total sweetie! I admit that I was nervous about having an adult leachie in my care. They have such a rotten reputation. They're not as nasty as you'd think. All of my adults are big sweeties and would rather hug you than take a bite out of you. I am however getting that big nu ana x pine isle girl and apparently she's nasty! LOL
I guess there's always gotta be one meanie.

Leachies are a bit different than other New Calendonian species. They prefer a little bit tighter quarters. You'd think that with the larger size that they'd need a very large enclosure. It's actually quite the opposite. If there's one thing I've learned from keeping leachies this last year and a half is that they will stress and not eat if there's too much space. I keep my adult leachies in the same size tubs that I keep my adult/breeding gargoyles in. As long as the leachie has cork bark and large enough branches to feel their weight is secure on, they'll thrive in a bit smaller of an enclosure than you'd think.

Cthulhu is the sweetest Leachie I've ever known. She just loves to hug your hand. If I ever decide to stop breeding, she will not be going anywhere. I think she's the favorite in my collection.

Who wants to see some GIANT GECKOS!?!?

Hi all! I know I haven't been on in a while. I've become super busy at work and at home. But I just wanted to post an update on some of our geckos. Mainly the huge ones.
Well, I had one for the longest time and she was growing well. When she started to put on some adult sizing/weight I was thinking about getting another. Well, long story short.... We fell absolutely in love with these giants and now have 6 with 2 more on the way.
So without further ado, here are all the Leachianus that are here at Ouroboros Exotics.
