  • Had my first encounter with a Leachie yesterday!

And i fell in love!! An employee at LLL brought his male in b/c he was being forced to sell it :/ He was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Around a year old. Calm, curious, and climbed right up to my shoulder. I've never looked into leachies before, but i think i might start doing some research, save up, and get myself a pair in a couple years haha! Amazing, amazing animals and so easy to fall in love with!!

So, I wanna see pics of all your leachies and tell me about your experiences with them!! I love stories How did ya'll get into Leachies? When did you get your first one? How have your experiences been with breeding them? Tell me everything!!

They get you easily, don't they? I met my first Leachie at our local Reptile Clubs monthly meeting and have been head over heels with these guys since! Unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure of owning one... Yet.

Ah, I remember when I met my first leachie. 'Twas at one of my first reptile shows, and I wasn't expecting how heavy the critter was haha. Low and behold, I got my first leachie some years later. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...n/IMG_0577.jpg She's an Isle E, and boy is she a pig haha.

Quite a beautiful pig though! Lol. I wasn't expecting their feet to be so big and strong! Im used to the delicate toes of cresties haha. I actually wanted to ask everyone.. What do the leachie terms mean? Like when people say isle e., nu anu, nu ami, GT ect.?

Thank you. Yes, I was not expecting that either haha.
The terms are in relation to their locale(where they originated from). GT is Grand Terre, Isle E is also called Moro. The GTs are known for being the biggest(from what I recall). Nuu Ami or Nuu Ana are generally the most "colorful." The different locales have various snout and body shapes, but unless you know the lineage of your leachie, it's hard to say what is what.

Interesting! And do people cross breed leachie's from different regions? Do they have morph/pattern names? So many questions! Hahaha

They do, so you'll see something like a GT x Isle E mix or somesuch.
I have not seen many morphs for leachies. 'Cept maybe the "snowflake" leachies, but I'm not entirely sure if they count or not. There are some leachies that have dalmatian spotting.

Alright! great to see your leachie is doing well!
The first leachie i ever met was my friends in college.
He had two from cemelli's line if i remember correctly, i never really noticed them before, but after seeing and holding one i was in love.
The huge size, soft wrinkles! I got my first one a few months later at NARBC in Anaheim.
Her name is Jade and shes a Mt.Koghis X Yate mix which means she is going to be HUGE!
Since i have also picked up a little Isle E X (Nuu Ana X Duu Ana) who is slow growing but beatiful
