  • OPEN DISCUSSION #9 favorite trait and color.combinations.

This is an open discussion on your favorite combinations of trait and color. What do you like or what would you like to see... maybe someone else here could post a photo for you. This discussion is a little more relaxed than the other discussions, so have some fun and feel free to post photos.
My choice that I have never really mentioned before...
Extreme tricolor harleys with minimal base color showing in vertical lines. I would like to see this with a bright red base color.

Of course i like Dalmatians, Dalmatians an be any color, pattern or morph. I received my first red bi over a yr ago an had 2 get two more reds. The red ether have to be a bright red or a very dark wine color red. Im starting to like the extreme look.

I like the solids kinds.. with no stripes or anything. And lighter colored ones, like greys. I am partial to Dals, but I am biased on that one, lol.

Mine doesn't have a lot of spots. He does have some red spots too that I love. They do get more spots the more they shed, right? that's what I hear.

Very very fond of tricolor with a very balanced look (equal expression of base color to pattern color to white splotching). Each color has to be very defined with little blending. I've found that the "creeping cream" effect is very heritable but it disrupts the tricolor distribution.

I'm currently trying to create tricolor pinstripes but it's difficult because by its nature, "extreme" harlequin patterns break into the dorsal area and wash out the impact of the pinstripe. Generally you can get the pinstripe when sacrificing the "extreme", but you can still end up with some good splotchy colors on the body.

I have had the same results when pinning is introduced to extremes. This about as close as I have come to the dorsal with a pinstripe extreme combo...

All the orange patterning comes from the Triple X line and the base color is from one of my red lines. It would have been nice to see some full saddles.

I'm a big fan of super dals, which I only loved more once I got one. But I'm also in love with interesting and what seems to be less popular colors like my chocolate brown bi color Hershey. When it comes to patterned geckos, I love high contrast. Pretty Halloweens and red/cream. But I'm also obsessed with these black cresteds. In short, I really just love cresties with a burning passion and can't wait till I'm at a point in my life where I can start doing my own research and testing on their genetics.

I adore Missk's charcoal grey geckos; the color is a great combination of striking and calming. It makes me think of stormy skies. I also love anything with lots of drippy or splotchy cream patterning, possibly because it looks edible (caution: geckos not to be taken internally).

i like the extreme tri-color harley's as well...with pinning, even better! I like the red harley's, but haven't bitten the bullet and bought some from Altitude Exotics yet - he seems to consistently have some of the best i've seen for sale anyway.

our first crestie purchase from petsmart didn't have much pattern showing, and just a few spots as a baby, but she really added a lot of spots as she grew and matured. it surprised me and was fun to watch.

They posted a red spot super dalmatian this morning asking for name suggestions. I would love to own that gorgeous boy.

Hershey is a petco find. I used to work as the reptile specialist and I was checking on the geckos one day and saw her fired up and fell in love. Now I do not love her neurotic behavior, but I still bought her one because she was pretty and on sale and two because I was prepared to handle her neurotic, wiggle butt.
