  • My Crested Geckos

I've had these two for a while, and I thought it would be nice to join a forum about them because I plan on breeding them when they get bigger.

I got them before I knew anything about crestie morphs because I thought they were adorable, and I've found that their genetics are very different than all of the other reptiles I have, but I've also read that the dalmation gene is co-dom. Is that true? I also don't know what the different lines mean, other than them being unrelated. Can someone explain that too? Sorry for the questions that have probably been asked a million times, but I would like to know as much as I can before breeding them.

So do you think they would make nice babies? These pictures are older and they both have more spots now

You could make super Dalmatians if they have enough spots. I have a Dalmatian pair. My male is a super dalmatian and the female just has a few.

They were sold as a future breeding pair of super dalmatians. I think I figured out what Chips line means, because when I searched google images for "dalmatian crested gecko" the second picture is of a really nice red super dalmatian named Chips

Chips could be one of the parents.

Yeah, Chips is a famous gecko from AC Reptiles (big name breeder) that spawned several nice dalmatians and super-dals.

Adorable pair. I love dals! As Spyral said, Chips is from AC Reptiles and learning about his line is definitely worth while. As for the dalmatian gene being co-dom that has never really been proven as far as I know. There have been cases where two spotty parents have produced a spotless child. While that is a very rare case I do believe that the dalmatian gene is a very dominant one as almost every offspring produced from at least one spotted parents will produce spots, In my 8 years of breeding I can count on one hand the number of spotless offspring my dalmatian has had!

Cool, I didn't know I was buying a realative of a famous gecko They both fire up red, but they always change back before I can find the camera. They are really friendly, and super easy to care for. It's good to know that most(if not all) of their babies will be dalmations
