  • BIG DECISION! Adding a new female in w/ 2 close females!

My two females have been together over a year and now cuddle together and love each other. I now have a female that is grown to the same size and I am readyt o upgrade to a bigger terrarium (currently in a 12' x 12' x 18" exo) and 36 grams now. My other females have always been together ina 20 tall. I am upgrading the two that have been together awhile into a 18' x 18' x 24" Zoo Med, and want to know if it would be okay to add the new female. AND if it is okay, to add her after they are comfy, or right away so it is new to ALL of them!! THANKS!!

    Hey Dana-
I would add them all at the same time. There won't be any smells or territory established yet so they aren't as likely to fight. If you don't already have two water and food bowls on opposite sides of the cage for them. Watch for signs of fighting, but they should be fine.

I would put them all in the new tank together.

When we put another female in with our original two I just made sure everything was washed really well and that there was something familiar for all of them (I put all of their fave hides in there)

Agreed - adding all of them together puts them on more equal footing, and in my experience lowers the chances of any possible aggression that there may be - no one will have claimed any territory yet. Make sure to provide multiple food and water sources (in distinctly different areas as already mentioned), a plethora of hide spots, and a watchful eye on your part just in case. Good luck!
