  • My new cresties are home! (sure wish I was, LOL)

Thanks to Matthew, my house now contains 2 new cresteds. I can't wait to get home and see them. (I said I'd cover my colleagues shift today, why?)

    2 hours to go!

LOL, I'll have to get some pics up of them soon.

    Thanks again, Matt.

OK, got some pics of these cuties.

First off, their new home: It's a bit barren right now, gotta get some plants for the top of the viv, but I'm liking the cage so far. I went with the smaller sized tall version of the ecoterra cage for this year and will buy the larger tall version for them as they grow into it. It'll make a good juvie rearing cage.

Here's "Whisper", the calmer of the two new ones. The personality is very much like "Echo", my littler guy/gal. Fingers crossed that Echo and Whisper end up as a male/female pairing. They really will compliment each other nicely. (Hey, I can hope...50/50 shot.) Beautiful gecko, just what I've been searching for. Thanks Matt! I can't wait to see him/her darkened up, and the dorsal striping is to die for. Love it! Cute little partial pin-striping, too.

Here's "Ditto", my little stubby dalmatian kid. Ditto about got renamed "Super Doink". She (or he) can doink (jump) like no other. She's on the skittish side and a masterful jumper, but she'll calm down. I love the big, bold dalmatian spots and the flame pattern. Can't wait to see her (or him) mature. *Doink!*

And here's a brief pic of the two, together. That's is for now. I'm gonna let them settle in for a few. These guys are twice the size of little Echo (who is staying in his/her own little viv, of course) and look ginormous compared to what I've gotten used to.

Well, so far I'm loving this new viv. I plugged the two bottom back holes with pieces of foam to keep them from climbing up behind the "rock wall". I love the removable screen lid and the front-opening doors. The lock is super-secure...you KNOW when it's locked, which I like. The only worry spot I see so far is that hinge on the door is an inch inside from the very edge...this causes the door edge to swing into the cage as you open it and leaves a 1 inch gap for geckos to squirt out the sides on the outside of the doors. The main worry is to watch that no gecko is trying to squeak through that opening as the doors close or the potential exists for squished gecko. The is obviously very easy to avoid doing, but the potential is there to watch out for.

The viv is very aesthetically pleasing, though, and the geckos are having fun exploring their new digs.
