  • Chahoua baby colorings

    Hello,

I am getting a new baby PI chahoua this weekend

I wanted to be sure if it is normal that baby chahouas have a light brown colorings (see photo) in the beginning of their stage ?

It is 3 months old and was told that it will develop a white collar and tail. I understand that as they mature they will develop their colorings of their parents.

    Thank you

Are all 3 pictures of you new baby chahoua?
His/her colours look ok in these photos.
If u see my earlier post of my first mossy gecko you can see colour similarities.
Congratulation on getting yourself a Chahoua.
I am expecting a new adult male Chahoua to arrive with me next week. I'm pretty excited about his arrival.
They are super geckos great hunting instinct.

No , actually the brown one is the baby. The others who are coloured are the parents.
Just wanted to know if it is common for babies to have a brownish colour at the beginning .

When you say Brown one are you referring to the 3rd picture?
The 1st picture looks pretty small to me for an adult but pictures can be deceiving.
If so that's fine colour changes occur as they age.
Mine looked very similar to the third picture but now has a lot of reds & also greens.

First picture is Feb 2017 when I got her & the other 2 pictures are from August 2017. See how her colour has developed.
She is actually brighter than these photos show.

Chahoua babies all tend to look like little brown bird turds when they're younger. Yes, they do develop color as they get older. I would say a year and older you will have a good idea of where its markings and coloring will go, but they do develop further until they're considered adults, around the age of 3. Things like white collars are usually present at birth, however. Based on the photo I see I don't expect that one to develop any sort of significant collar. It really depends how the color develops and spreads. It could lighten up like the parent in the first picture.

Here's an example of a very high quality young white collar specimen: Click image for larger version
