  • Hi!!!

I feel like I'm joining every crested gecko forum there is!! My name is Amanda and on some of the other forum's it's Huggenkiss. I'm a 22 year-old female with an obsession for crested geckos. Just like most stories... It all started with one. Now I have more than 30!! I hatched my first eggs at the beginning of June; since then 6 more have hatched and I'm expecting 12 more to hatch within the next 6 weeks. amandascritters.com should be up and running soon. You can check it out now but it just shows my boyfriends' math homework. I guess there were server problems and more computer blah blah blah that I just don't get, but the website will be up soon.

A little non-gecko stuff about me- I live in Colorado. I'll be graduating from CSU in December with a degree in watershed science. I live with my boyfriend and he too has caught the gecko fever. He just discovered this forum and told me to join it today. His name around here is Hzrds. Here's a picture of him and I!!

Hi, and welcome to Pangea!! I have seen you around other forms and you will really like it here.
Another Coloradian, man there must be some thing in Colorado making people crazy for cresties, just kidding.

I would love to see some pics of you geckos, what kind are you bonkers for... reds, dalmations, yellow, or just any and every thing?

Hey, welcome to Pangea! I find this to be one of the best Rhac forums on the Web, but I guess I'm biased... Anyhow, good to have you here. I am sure you will like it.

Welcome to pangea! Definitely one of the best sites on the web, even though rangergrrl is a little biased... hehehe

Can I ask what "watershed science" is? What do you want to do career wise?

              Erik-
Of course we'll be at the reptile show. I'll see you in a week!

Watershed Science is all about water. I've had to take classes on water quality, water quantity, water location, anything you can imagine about water I've done it. CSU has the best watershed program in the US if not the World. We only graduate around 10 people a year. It's been pretty intense. I'll be one of the youngest people to graduate with that degree. As far as jobs go this major is very closely related to civil engineering, in fact some of my classes were engineering classes! The job market is pretty endless. In the west people are concerned with how much water there is and in the east the worry is the quality. If there's irrigation, water treatment plants, construction that will disturb groundwater, wetlands, endangered waterfowl/fish/marshland animals or pretty much and endless list here. People use water daily. I get asked this question all the time and I'm awful at describing what it is. Hopefully I helped some. Here's the link of how CSU describes it if anyone is interested. And if not thats fine too, i'm a water-nerd!

I'm going to take the lazy way out... I'm going to hijack my girlfriends thread and introduce myself in it as well. My name is Matt, I'm new to the crested hobby in the respect that I am just getting into it, but when you're girlfriend has 30 cresteds in the house it's hard to not get attached. How did I get into cresteds? Simple my girlfriend had an overflow male tank and said, here you go. Now of course I'm on the hunt to start a breeding program of my own. All your blonds are belong to me!

More personally about me, I'm a 25. I'm currently a junior in the College of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University. I just got done with summer school today (not very succesfully unfortunately) and as it stands I've been up around 36 hours, which is why some may have noticed me checking out the boards at hours when the world has stopped. Hopefully I'm done with nights like these for awhile though. Other than cresteds I am really into discus fish (The King of the Aquarium), if you have never seen them either google them or give me a holler and I can show you some. Be careful though they just might be the most beautiful fish you'll ever see (my humble opinion of course ). I wish I could call myself a discus breeder but I have never gotten my fish past the egg laying stage, they take care of the eggs for about 24 hours than eat them.

Well there's my introduction smack in the middle of a thread. I'm glad to see that Colorado has a good representation in these boards, seems to be rare. I imagine I'll be in these boards pretty often. Although probably more of a lurker until I can get some experience under my belt and than pretend to know what I'm talking about . I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Oh and Erik, 1- of course we'll be at the reptile show and 2- I was the one that referred Amanda so when I win the referrel contest make sure that your prize crested comes to me not her

Welcome to you as well Matt.

Interesting combination what with her water knowledge and your discus keeping. I bet that comes in handy huh?

It's funny you mention that. She does water quality sampling at a few lakes around town. And one of her pieces of equipment was a "tester" that the manufacturer gave her boss to try out... It's tested my fish tanks more than it's tested lakes
