  • Cicada Hollow

Cicada Hollow is my little 10 acre hobby farm. I'm often asked why I picked the name Cicada Hollow. The song of the Cicadas bring back wonderful childhood memories for me and the time I spent growing up at our family farm. I was always intrigued by the Cicadas, and would bring in scores of shed skins and would capture live ones. I still love to hear their songs and reflect in the memory of times past.

It's just my hubby & myself, no kids. We've been married for 6 years and make up for the lack of kids with an abundance of pets, lol. Here's a picture of us in Oberammerga Germany. Which by the way, if my dog had been with me, I wouldn't have come back. It's a fairy tale world...if you get a chance to go, jump at it.

I hate photos of myself, but this one turned out kinda cute. A pic of me at the renaissance festival. Me, in a stockade...ha-ha.

That's funny because I'm a cop. Yep, a police officer. I know that will raise a lot of objections to those whom like their dope. Sorry. I've seen it waste too many lives and hurt too many people. Been a cop for 10 years. Wish I were a vet instead. I do love my job, just hate the politics of it all. And it's ALL politics, every bit of it.

Don't fret though, I'm a cool cop and when I'm off work, I'm just me! My life revolves around my husband. The closest I have to a child is my dog, Heidi. She is a red and white Border Collie and my heart and soul:

    Hmmmm...guess that's about it in a nutshell.

You're right it is a cute picture, gotta love women in bondage

Seriously though, you'll find quite a few "maple" leaf lovers on here. But, welcome aboard and get some pics of your other animals up .

Ten acres is a good size for a hobby farm. I grew up on six acres of mixed woods and other land, and had access to many more acres as my property backs up onto a state game preserve. It was a great childhood. Your dog is really cute. Where do you go to the RenFaire? Is it the Overland Park festival? My husband and I go to Faires every chance we get.

I grew up on about 4 acres, then hubby and I rented 11 acres for a while. Finally purchased 6 acres next to mom & dad's place which gives us the 10 acres. It's nice because there is a spring fed creek which runs through the property and we don't have to haul water! In 30+ years, it's only froze solid one time. Makes watering stock super easy, lol.

I guess you could call it the Overland Park festival, lol. I always think Bonner Springs cause that's the exit I have to take. Here's the link to the Ren fest:

I didn't make it this year, but am hoping to go next year. It's tons of fun! [/url]

Thanks! Not as big as I'd like to have, but it will do for now. Aren't Cicada's so neat? A bit noisy but very cool!

Michigan has a couple of Ren fests around the same time each year. They're quite a bit of fun too. Also if you're a geek like me, you can dress up

I haven't dressed up yet, but I've been looking at a couple really neat costumes on eBay. Problem is, I've always been a tomboy so I'd have to make myself get into a dress.

 I wore one last time. Dressed up as a druid, so I had a gown with a rope belt basically. Then a huge elaborate cloak. It looks better than it probably sounds, but that's why pictures are worth 1,000 words
