Introducing Murasaki, an Phidippus audax (spider)

The newest resident to the Zoo, a Phidippus audax, a local jumping spider. Used to keep these as a kid and while I'm pretty arachnophobic, I've always liked these little guys.

Found this one while doing yard work today and decided to keep it. And, of course, it had to be named Murasaki in one of the naming themes we've got going on!

Gorgeous little thing. I'm also terrified of spiders haha! Not tarantulas though, surprisingly.

OK, I don't know anything about these. What do you feed them?

I am not arachnophobic, but doubt I would keep any as pets. We have enough spiders in our basement that I don't feel the need. LOL

Can feed them all kinds of things, moths, small grasshoppers, etc that are around outside or you can buy things like small crickets or feeder roaches for them if you don't want to catch food yourself and or it's not plentiful outside, like right now. So I'll be buying a few crickets for awhile I imagine.
