    To be frank, if your sister's attitude towards pets is "just get rid of it once it's too big." Then she shouldn't get anything. Especially since, at 8 years old, your niece will most likely not be doing most of the care. In order to convince your sister not to get an iguana, you should probably find something she cares about an iguana can easily ruin before reaching the "too big" mark. You could point out that even a young iguana could scratch your niece and hurt her. I hope that helps and I pray that your sister doesn't get an iguana. Another idea is that your niece could have her own pet that was at your place, though that might not work out.

      thank sfor the feedback everyone!

      I did create this back in Feb. but I should update you guys!

      I managed to steer my sister away from reptiles.. and convinced her to use the tank as an aquarium. I even gave her a list of nano-related fish.
      My niece now has a cute aquarium with a betta, frog, snail and some shrimp. They seem to be happy enough.

        WARNING: that betta may eat the frog and shrimp.
