  • Tank Upgrade Advice

I own a Giant Madagascar Day Gecko who is going to need a bigger cage eventually. Id like to have some cage size and decor advice, as well as advice for making the new cage bioactive

I have 2 bags of drainage and 2 bags of peat moss saved on hand. Any help is appreciated.

I have an 18x18x36 tank, and I used two bags of hydroton, then a mesh layer, then two bags of ABG mix, and added some sphagnum moss and magnolia leaves on top of that. Make sure you have a cleanup crew of springtails and isopods if you are going bioactive. I don't have a day gecko, I have a false chameleon, but I would assume that your day gecko is going to get very large, so the bigger the tank, the better! Make sure there is a lot of foliage in it, and a lot of things to climb. Some cork tubes would help as well, as hiding spots, and bamboo sticks are welcome additions. He'll need a basking spot, with a branch or vine near it so he can choose where he wants to be in relation to warmth.

    Here are some care sheets:
TAD "Tiny Ancient Dinosaur" (Crestie), Hidey (Garg), O.G. "Office Gecko" (Bauer's Chameleon gecko), TBD "Tiny Badass Dragon" (Western Bearded Anole), 3.1.0
Rody Jane (cattledog/stinkwad mix), Dixie Moonpie (rattledog) George P-Dog (lab/Great Pyr) 1.2.0, Ringer (barn cat) 1.0.0
