  • Vailed Chameleon eye problem

Hello all, I've been keeping Crested Geckos for years but I'm new to Vailed Chameleons. I have a young vailed who is housed in a screen cage with a UVB bulb and a drip system. When I got him he was just fine but the past week he has been having some eye problems. At first it was just his left eye, he was always moving that eye around (i'm guessing he is trying to flush it out) and keeping it closed for very long periods of time. After a few days the right eye started doing the same thing. Now he keeps them closed most of the time and has been seen rubbing his eyes on the branches in the cage. This morning I couldn't get him to open his eyes at all. He has been eating and drinking well up to this point. What should I do, do I bring him to a vet or wait some more time to see what happens.

Take him to a vet. The longer you wait, the more damage to his eyes you are risking. If he's keeping them closed, he is in pain.

Any word on your chameleon? Is he doing better?
