Just so happy that this little guy has made a complete recovery! Sorry I thought I had this on my old thread called turtle rescue. I took this little guy away from the kids next door who had kept him in a shoebox. He was real bad when I got him but know he is doing great!

Thank You! I thought for sure the little guy was a goner and all I could hope to do was make his last hours at least wet ones. Know he swims and eats like a pig! I love him and it is going to be hard to part with him when I set him free!

before you set him free check your wildlife and game dept for laws because in some states it is illegal. but congrats i love his little stripe down his back

Thanks we live by a lake and I was just assuming that the kids nabbed him from there but I know nothing about turtles so I could be wrong. Thanks for the heads up.

I will keep him as long as he seams happy, if he starts to look at me like is this all there is to my life or if he gets to big to swim around in his tank hen I will have to get him a better home I want to keep him too!

You can always get a stock tank for him. I will be buying two for my turtles once they are old enough to go outside.

Yes, you would need to bring him back in for the winter. You also need to secure a lid on the stock tank so predators (large birds, raccoons, even cats and dogs) don't injure or eat him.

Water turtles should also have a much deeper stock tank than the one pictured. The 150 gallon is a good one for one turtle. Make sure he still has a basking spot to climb out of the water.

Thank you, I need all the information I can get on this little guy. As I stated I never set out to get him the kids next door where keeping him in a shoe box and feeding him worms which he wasn't eating at all. I would never get a pet that I knew nothing about. His one little leg doesn't seam to work real good, no sores or wounds he just drags it behind him most of the time, looks healthy so part of me is afraid that I will never be able to return him to the wild. I don't know if it is even a good idea since I don't really know where he came from the kids said they found him in the yard actually my yard that was my final argument about taking him away from them. The parents didn't care one way or the other.
