Has anyone ever seen these guys? I would love to wrok with them myself but then again I don't think I have the buying power of a zoo. Check out the pictures and let me know if you think it would be cool to breed these guys.

I got to see/interact with the crocodile lizards at Agama International they are sooo cool!!

They go for about 500 each though and I believe they are endangered.

I know caiman lizards are specialized snail eaters, but I hear they can be switched over to other food items in captivity. I've always liked Shinisaurus more than Dracaena though, they just seem more interesting to me.

My boyfriend has a friend who works with shinis. You can find them available often. Though females are hard to come by. They are great animals. The person from agam international rarely sells females so chances are you will only get males from him. For food he said if you supply them with fish every so often that to never supply them with goldfish as goldfish are bad for herps. Though he is a great guy to buy from. We plan on getting some in the near future.
As for the caiman lizards he knows a few people who have worked with them. They are very difficult to work with and extremely hard to come by now adays. Every once in a while you will find a shining star but most die in captivity. There are suppose to be 2 species of the caiman lizards, one is "rough" scaled and bumpy and the other is said to be smooth and of dull color, or otherway around. I think he also said his friend said that they are very closely related to tegus. Prehistoric pets had one available a few years ago and Kim, the wife of ken, from exotic pets lv use to have one but no success. He doesnt know if all this info is exact but its as close as he remembers. Europeans seem to have the best success with them, as they seem to do well with a lot of demanding animals, lol.
