Default I lost a great pet today

My Pionus parrot literally dropped dead this morning. She was only 8yrs old and I've had her since she was 3 weeks old. I hand fed her myself. She showed no symptoms of anything being wrong. She was eating and drinking, talking like usual, no fluffed up body or lethargy. She was sleeping this morning in her favorite sunny spot. I was reading close to her cage and heard her go thump on the bottom. I thought she and my other parrot were playing, sometimes one will knock the other down. Tuns out she had fallen off her perch and was well on her way to dead then. I scooped her up to see if I could help her and she died in my hands. From the time she fell to death was less than a minute. I have no idea what happened. She was a great bird. She was quiet and easygoing. She was very forgiving if I couldn't take her out for a while but was still sweet as ever when I did. She only once ever bit anyone and it was me and I knew better than to bug her when I did. She will be sorely missed. I just realized, I don't think I have a single picture of her. The flash scared her so I never took any.
This is Ernie, her buddy. He is already missing her. He doesn't usually talk to us, he'd rather talk to her. All day he has been going through his whole list of words and phrases that he knows. I feel so bad for him.

ohh im sorry i had the almost the same thing happen to my bird, he was fine than i found him laying motionless on the bottom of the cage. than i picked him up and he moved very little bit, so i rushed him to a vet, and he died that night... it was the weirdest thing i have ever had happen.. i would watch your other one and take him to the vet for a checkup and the deceased one for a necropsy just in case..

Suzanne- I'm so sorry to hear about your parrot. I'm sure her buddy misses her too...animals know when their companions are no longer there, I don't care what anyone says. Again, so very sorry .

Oh I'm so sorry That's awful news. Doubly sad because she had a feathery friend who will miss her too.

    Thanks guys!

Derek they can live 25 years.

The one in the pic is her buddy that is still here. She was not as flashy. Here is what JC looked like. This is just a pic I grabbed of the net, not my pet.
