Default Probable Male? and feeding question...

I know at a young age it is nearly impossible to sex geckos, however, I don't know what signs to look for as of yet. I've looked around and from what I've read males have larger white spurs/pores? However without other juvis to compare it's not very accuate. It's not super important to me, but the little guy gave me an oppertunity to snap a shot... and it can't hurt to ask Plus it'll help me in the naming process.

Also, I wanted to know about feeding schedules. I know a lot of people feed crickets and CGD on alternating days... If you are feeding mainly CGD, how much/often should you offer? Are crested geckos the type to overeat? Or will they stop when they get hungry?

    Much thanks in advance!

If you got a better shot of the pore area it might help, but this far away I'm no good. I know others have said they can sex by spurs, but without another animal to compare it to that's pretty much useless, and I'm pretty sure those folks have admitted they're only around 80% accurate with that method anyway. What's the weight on it? Did you pick up a jeweler's loupe to view the pore area?

I stopped offering CGD every single day because on every other day most of the food would go to waste. We're still going through some chilly weather here though so maybe that will pick up as the temp goes up a bit. They all still look healthy though, just don't seem to want food every day.

Most of mine will leave at least a bit in their dishes so I'm pretty sure they don't just eat because food is there.

Thanks Jaybee. Here is a closer picture from the same image, but I doubt it does any good. He/She is at 5g.

    And no, I don't have a jeweler's loupe.

OK, that's the spurs (not too helpful without another animal of similar size to compare to), but the more accurate image would be zoomed in for pores. Can you get that one instead?

Five grams is too small to start sexing. Try again when he's at least ten, or even a little bigger.

Some of my geckos will eat everyday, but most will not, unless they are going through major growth spurts. So some I feed everyday, and some are every second day. It really depends.

    Very nice gecko, btw!

I do have one right around 5g that has definite pores, so sometimes you can say male-for-sure! But, yeah, at that size it's not usually a good idea to jump to female-for-sure conclusions if you see no pores.
