    Default New Lurker

Hi, been lurking for a bit on the board, thought I'd introduce myself. I'm in the San Francisco bay area, and am planning on getting a crested gecko. I pretty much have everything I need for a bioactive setup. I'll be using an Exo Terra 24x18x18. I plan on setting the terrarium up, planting it, and seeing if I can at least keep the plants living for at least 6 months before I get a crestie. I look forward to learning from everyone here.

Anyway, here's what I plan on using for the terrarium:

    Exo Terra 24x18x18
    Hydro balls
    Eco Earth
    Organic Top Soil
Flat Cork Bark, Medium and small cork rounds
    exo terra waterfall
    Repti fogger
    lots of plants

Welcome to the forum! Everything sounds good. Consult with plant experts about what kind of light to provide and don't be surprised if some of your choices don't make it. Eventually you'll figure out which plants you'll be most successful with. Forget about the really delicate plants because the crestie will destroy them by climbing on them.

Thanks for the reply! I forgot to add that I have a ReptiSun LED UVB 24" hood to go with everything. I look forward to learning everything I can.

Sounds like you're off to a good start! I prefer live terrariums compared to the "fake plants" they sell. But because I breed I have to settle for less then I want!
    I definitely agree with an 18" x 18" x 24". I already have a few and they are so spacious compared to the 12" x 12" x 18"!
Do you now what gender of crested gecko you want..? Or colour/morphs in particular? That's always my favourite part, picking up a new one!
    Wish you good luck!

I haven't decided what gender, but am strongly considering a harlequin.

Nice choice! I have a really beautiful male harley. I know everyone always says stuff like a green is considered an "olive" colour, but my harley is seriously GREEN.
If you get a male, I'm just going to warn you in advance... Their urine stinks. I don't mean just a little... They kind of have their own special odour!

Again, wish you good luck! It sounds like your gecko will live the high life.
