    Default Insect identification..

He is on my front door. He is adorable and tiny like a flea. What is he? He looks almost like a mantis, but with out the praying hands. I want him badly, but know he needs to stay free....also I have no clue how to care for him .

Actually that's the nymph of an assassin bug, Zelus lurides. Though not aggressive, assassin bugs can deliver a venomous bite that feels similar to a bee sting so be careful!

I normally don't post in this section, but I thought I'd add in- it's definitely an assasin bug nymph. Maybe it would be better not to keep him, as advised earlier- they bite, and it hurts a lot. I remember that once I was sitting outside in the summer, reading, when I felt something on my face. I tried to brush it off, but ended up getting bitten above my lips. It hurt a lot, and for a pretty long time after that. Be careful!

Eh, I think assassin bugs (both native guys like this and the giant African species) make neat little pets. They can bite and there's always the possibility of having a bad reaction to their venom, so you need a reasonable amount of caution, but they're really not all that aggressive unless you happen to be a small insect.
