Default New crestie owner, need help understanding behaviour

I've heard created geckos like to walk around when handling, but my crested gecko just stands still and walks slowly. Whenever I go to pick him up he climbs or walks away a bit(I handle him at night time). He is 5 months old and I only had him for 3 days so far and got him from a breeder. Should I let him settle in his terrarium for more time or should I handle him? Note he hasn't ate yet. I am looking for any advice thanks.

Always wait 2 weeks after getting a gecko before handling, all geckos have different personalities so don't worry if he seems odd, it's just how he does things

I too would recommend that you allow your new gecko to settle into his new home for about 2 weeks before you attempt to hold him. Coming into a new environment is a huge change for a little one and can cause a great deal of stress.
Because of this, your little one may not eat at all for the first few weeks after arriving. Try not to stress about it or hand feed him. He will eventually find food on his own when he feels comfortable.
Be sure to provide lots of foliage and things to climb on for your little one as this will help them to feel more secure.
What it's housing situation looking like?

Not sure how to put a picture on this website but here's a link http://m.imgur.com/yuO0edZ any suggestions would be great, I just got him and hope to make this terrariam better. It is 12x12x18 but I plan on getting a 18x18x24 when he gets older. He is 5 months old right now.

It looks good. I would add a couple more fake plants to the wall and on the bottom, some crestie's like to hang out on the floor of the tank.

Would supplies for fish tanks work with crested geckos? I am thinking of getting this. http://www.amazon.ca/Emulational-Gre...dp/B00CQI00ZY/
    or this http://www.amazon.ca/Dimart-Artifici.../dp/B017U4Q9CG

I saw something like the second one at Wal-Mart today. Thought about picking up two or three. Even know I have no idea what I'd do with them. Lol

But to answer your question. Yes perfectly fine. Most any aquarium safe plants will be perfectly fine to use.

I always get fake plants from the dollar store, just make sure to wash them so any access dye comes off before outing in the geckos cage
