You can also try using a piece of leafy decoration or bark to put in front of him. If he doesn't walk onto it himself, you can coax him from behind with your other hand. This method works best with my gecko and once I have him out of his home he's very calm and happy to just do the hand walk.

Again, just snatch and grab, a firm hold will contain any gecko and they're tougher then they look so don't worry about hurting him

My guy can also be pretty flighty. I've only had him a month. Sometimes he will scurry away when I reach for him and hide behind a plant. I usually leave him be if he does. But sometimes (and this tends to be when he first wakes up in the early evening) I can get him to walk into my hand by prodding his bum gently. I think he's slowly starting to associate me with food. I feed dubia with tweezers and let him smell the CGD before I put it in his cup holder.

I finally got him out of the terrarium...he just woke up and was a little tired...he still tried to run everywhere but after a few minutes he was very, very calm. I wanted to let him walk from one hand to the other, but he was very lazy in terms of that...seems like he is more tame than i actually thought he is :P
