    Default pinkies. quetion about them

about feeding pinkies, what are the nutritional values for these guys? all i know is that theyre heavy in fat and they are used to fatten up breeders but by fattening up breeders, does this mean that feeding a female pinkies untill its 40 grams is good enough? or what. because like females require more calcium and what not but will feeding pinkies untill the desired goal suffice? meaning liek one pinkie or two each week. not liek 5 a day till tis fat as hell

I feed my leachies and some of my chahouas pinkies. I know aurics will take them, and I believe some cresteds.

Here's a listing of nutritive values on a variety of prey, including mice as pinks, fuzzies, and adults. Scroll down and you'll hit mineral contents and others.

For my snakes, I think of pinks as being fairly low in fat, certainly compared to fuzzies (which are powerballs). But compared to what cresties normally eat, yeah...they're higher in fat. LOL The best calcium, IMHO, in pinks comes from the ones with big milk bands (stomach full of milk). Their skeletons are barely starting to mineralize at that age.

I think that they're a little too high in fat to feed as a staple but a lot of people get excellent growth rates from feeding them biweekly with pinkies. Anoles are another popular feeder item that has less fat and is better suited for a staple diet.

i definitely wouldnt use it as something to feed them regularly, i agree its more of a treat, its not a substantial source of calcium in itself, so its good to dump the rump of the pink in some calcium before you give it to your geckos. i have yet to feed a crested a pink. i just havent really offered them, and i doubt that i ever will.

Well I getting ready to order about 200 pinks for my upcoming breeding season. I plan on giving all females, if they'll take it, a pink every 7 or 10 days.

you should just order 1.2 adult mice. theyll have a litter of about 10-20 every... month or 2. so everytime theyre born youll have pinks to feed off, and if you end up with extras, you can sell them to your local petstore. its ALOT cheaper, then buying pinks all the time if you have more then 5 geckos you plan to feed them to. sometimes females will have litters at the same time, usually theyre at least a few days apart tho. you can also have multiple breeding groups. i only feed live pinks/fuzzys to like... 12 animals and i have 5 breeding groups of mice. and theyre mostly like.. 1.4+ each, but i also have friends with reptiles that need rodents, so everytime they outgrow my animals, i box them up and bring them in to my friend.

edit: oh, and i would offer 1 or 2, before ordering 200, since youre not sure that theyre going to take it. it would suck to have 200 pinks that none of your animals want to eat.
