ID:	25829I just got my first garg and when I got him I noticed that his tongue was slightly sticking out. I asked the owner about it and he said he was like that when he got him from a breeder. He is really healthy and I don't think he has any problems caused by it. He eats like a pig and weighs quite a bit . He can lick his face and eyes just fine and has no problem with his tongue other than sometimes it sticks out. I noticed that his mouth is always slightly open, but not to a point where it has been a huge concern, just slightly open. I plan to take him to the vet this week just to make sure everything is ok. Could this just be a birth defect, could it have been caused by an injury, and is it anything that I need to be very worried about?

I have cresteds and have never had a problem like this with any of them and absoulutely have been won over by how sweet this garg is. I just don't want to overlook something that might be a detriment to his health. Thanks for your input and advice!

Ok I just put some pics on of his tongue and I also saw that it looks like he has some kind of an injury that has healed in the testicle area, any advice on what that is?

It kinda reminds me about the dog with the longest tongue, maybe that could be it? I'm not sure either I have never had a garg.

Sounds very strange! Can you snap a couple of pics? Pictures would be very helpful for us to comment on what might be the cause.

This^. It sounds cute! But perhaps it could be the product of an underbite?

Yes he does remind me of that dog, we call him Mr. Winkle because that is the dogs name. I will try and get some pics tomorrow when I will have better lighting.

Oh that is a lot worse than I thought. It looks like mbd maybe. The hemipenes injusry looks rough too. If the gecko has stayed like that for long, who knows what else could be wrong. Maybe a vet check is in order? A fecal would be nice.,

I don't think that the injury is from a prolapsed hemipenis, because after doing some research a hemipenis comes out from the vent which is above the testicles. So that leads me to think maybe its a testicle injury? I hope to make a vet appointment on monday, does anyone know any good vets in Kansas City area, or any website that recommends good vets for your area. I really hope this guy isn't in a serious situation, because I've become so fond of him and really dont want to have to give him back to the guy I got him from.

yes, that does not look right. Agree with the jaws being mbd, the jaw seems misformed. Means he has had, or has, a calcium deficiency. I agree with you on the injury being not prolapsed. Looks like it some kind of a wound from the out side, almost like some kind of abscess. I hope the vet can help you out. Wow, that somebody would sell that animal - shivers.

Nonono my bad. I didn't think that it was a prolapse. I was simply referring to his nether-regions as his hemipenes because I don't know a good word for it. Bulge? Most people do not call it their testicles.

Either way it probably should be checked out. Goodluck!
