    Default High ambient humidity

Its summer and crazy hot (got to 100F today) here in Michigan. I dont have ac so I moved my crestie to the basement where it stays about 75 all the time. Problem is that the basement is humid, before misting, the enclosure is at about 70% humidity, I have coco fiber with moss ontop and the moss felt dry, it's just the air. I just misted but Im pretty sure that it's not going to dry like it needs to, any suggestions?

Point a fan at the tank (if it has a screen/mesh front or sides point it so it blows at & by the side. If its a screen top - point the fan blowing right across the top). This will push the air past it causing it to dry it out more than just sitting there, regardless of the humidity in the room.

Make sure the humidity hits 80-90% at night, then use the fan to have it drop down to about 50% during the day.

Cool thank you. I have the 18x18x24 exo terra. It has vents on the front but nothing major. Does have the s screen top. I have a tall fan that will blow right across the top though

That sounds like alot of fun to keep that humidity right . I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. Good luck.

Be careful though, it might drop the humidity quicker than you think... Keep an eye on it when you first try it.

The humidity was 76% and I put the fan on it. It's been about 20 minutes and it dropped 1%

Wow, thats a shockingly low amount. Keep the fan on it then, and see what happens

It's been 3 hours and still at 75%.
Do you have the fan blow across the top or right down in there?

I know you said the moss felt dry, but what about the coco bedding under it? I've had much better luck cutting down on mold and mildew (too much humidity) by mixing my coco brick long before I use it and letting it dry out before putting it in the cage. With my ball pythons I can put it in wet, but I don't mist their cages twice a day. I believe in keeping the substrate dry in the Exo Terra cages. It helps to have a light, or substrate heater if you're having trouble drying the cage out between mistings. I also go in with a plastic spoon and scoop all the poop out, when I do that, I mix up all the substrate so it all stays dry.
I live in Florida and it's always humid here, my cages run between 55% and 95% with dry substrate. When the substrate was moist, I couldn't get it to drop under 75%. Maybe you are having a similar issue?
