Question Whats up with my gecko's eye??

I just got a full pin female crested gecko that is about 3 years old. I'm not really sure how to post pictures on here but she has a strange eye that I'll just try to describe. One of them is completely normal but the other one is much darker and almost evil looking. You can't see the slit on it at all (day or night). And worst of all, the eye is slightly sunken into her head. The breeder I got it from said that she was born with it and it's normal but I'm not sure. Is she sick?? Also, is it a hereditary thing that would be passed down when bred?

    Thanks for any help!

It's possible she received some kind of trauma to it that decreased the volume and blew out the pupil. It's hard to say, but if she seems to be in good health, I would say she's gone this long with it! I'm not sure if it could be genetic or not.

I think Thewest is on the right track; the older gecko's that I have come across as well as some of the local owners I've met with have run into this issue before. The big thing is that it COULD have been an infection when they were younger and the mediation was not sought out and it healed on it's own, but has lasting damage.

If they are happy and healthy and living it up and not being hindered; I personally wouldn't worry about it. I've put out a lot of money on herps in the last 4 months with my rescues and I know it can be expensive but if you are worried; take them in to a vet. A breeder usually knows their gecko's but I have run into some shady breeders in my local area.

As for hereditary; I've never come across any geckos with a sunken eye that have passed it on; not to say that it's not possible; Thewest makes a good point in saying that it was probably some kind of trauma.

Good luck! I'm sure they're okay, just keep an eye on her and make sure she's eating okay
