Default Cost in all this madness

    Hey everybody,
I am wondering how much you spent on your setup. Not so much on the tank itself but on decor and if you did a great stuff bg with silicone and coco fiber.
So whats the grand total? Also, pics would be great if you want to show off

I got my tank for free on craigslist, but then i spent 20$ on petsmart tree , 7 $ on rock formation, 8$ on bamboo bars, 10$ on petsmart plants, 5$ on petco plants, 5$ on dollar store plants, 10$ on background, 3$ on food/water dishes, 15$ on lamp/bulb... for a total of about 80$ (possibly a little more with taxes)

really makes the exo terra complete kits not look like such a ripoff when you actually compare costs lol ..

    i'll post a pic later

I just went through three full set ups in under a year.. each ended up at $100-$110 ... because i got brand new 12X12X18 exo-terras, and plenty of plants, mopani wood, and fake plants. Will soon be adding more cost with some bamboo peices for my garg and my two cresties.

I'm pretty cheap when it comes decor, I find it completely out of my comfort zone to spend so much money on stuff that I can make myself or use less expensive alternatives. I made almost all of my backgrounds (GS/silicone/eco earth, styrofoam/grout/sealer & a cork bark/moss), vines, hides & layboxes. I also buy plants at the dollar store & Hobby Lobby/Michaels, I just can't make myself spend $10 on one fake plant from a petstore when I can spend that & get enough vines for several tanks. The biggest cost was buying the supplies for my 1st big tank (a 20L conversion), which came out to around $100, but since I had so many supplies left over I've been able to use them for subsequent builds. Untaimed.. can i ask what kind of silicon you used? .. i down right spent clost to 100$ to convert a 20L and finished it.. and the silicon smell just will no go away... stuck it in the attic to fry the hell out of it, to get it to de-gas rapidly (kinda like sticking it in a dry oven for weeks on low temp) I love your enclosure jobs though. Was hoping to make a "breeder" tank out of my 20 long for 2 geckers to be housed in to save some space. Good job on those vivs though
