    Default How about veggie wash?

I've been thinking that veggie wash would be a great alternative to some of the current tank cleaning options. It's derived from plant oils and acids and stuff and is very safe for humans. Unless there's a particular plant item in it that is bad for geckos, I'd think it would be safer than bleach and other stuff.

Tried it tonight, followed by some distilled water for a quick cleaning and wipe down but I was wondering what ya'll thought.

Might get pretty expensive if you have a large collection. There's a recipe for making your own veggie wash: http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/home/mi...eggie-wash.htm

Most of the cleaning will come from the lemon juice and vinegar, which are commonly used to clean tanks. I do not know if grapeseed oil is safe for reptiles, though. You could just use the vinegar. The baking soda might also leave a residue, so you might want to remove it if you have a planted tank as you don't want any of this stuff to remain in the soil or get on the leaves of plants.

This will be fine for regular cleaning, but for killing germs after an illness you'll need to use bleach, chlorhexidine, or amonia, depending on the type of microorganism you need to kill.
