Default Gold Dust Day Gecko's & Halmahera's Substrate

Hi! I'm new here and have a new pair of Gold Dust's in one enclosure and a new Halmahera in another. I'm currently using EcoEarth as their substrate and their humidity levels aren't as stable as I would like to see. Should I dampen the EcoEarth like I would moss? And should I consider drippers? Thanks for your help!

I have a gold dust day gecko. I also use coco fiber. In order to keep up the humidity, I mist every morning, keep a bowl of water and plants. She's been thriving for 7 years. I don't worry about the humidity.

Thank you! We've had the gecko's for a week today. I have researched many hours and created personalized care sheets for each. But in reality experience is always the best answer, thank you very much for sharing. I do plan on switching the Gold Dusts and Halmahera into bigger habitat's with live plants in the future. That will help with the humidity. I mist "Angel & Romeo" a couple times a day. Romeo is a friendly little dare devil and trys to get out onto my arm every time! My family has fallen in love with the Gold Dust Day Gecko's charming antics. Their tail wagging/waving and chirps are adorable and they are both just as curious about us as we are them. It's very fascinating. The Halmahera Gecko "Meratah" is just as interesting and although much calmer. Meratah is a juvenile, seems very open to being in my hands. We are planning to very slowly start taming him next week.

I'm glad you're having a good time with the gold dust. Mine has been a disappointment since I almost never see her.

I have a feeling that if I just had the female, she would be pretty quiet. My male keeps her on her toes! I just moved them to an 18x18x24 this afternoon. Added pea gravel, moss and damp coco fiber. I now have a mix of live and plastic plants. They are nosing around the new space.
