Wow. That setup looks like it's for a fish. That's great that they were willing to give you the crestie. It's scary to think of how many others out there possibly live in such setups.

So I gotta ask: What was she thinking? Did she not research the type of animal she was getting before buying him? Did she not research his needs when she brought him home? What made her think this enclosure and cricket diet was ok?

*snort* no she didn't research....she HATED the thing, didn't want it in her house and wouldn't touch it or the tank. However, her husband was the one that brought it home as a reward for his 3 year old for potty training. Obviously he didn't research either. In their defense...to some extent...this is the setup the PET STORE put together FOR THEM...so when you know nothing and you ask the pet store to sell you what you need and they hand you this...well, a smart person would research anyhow but lets not go there lol
They only had it a month before they got sick of it and gave to me. Heck I'm sure the 3 year old lost interest after the first day. Typical stupid parent "bribe gone wrong" pet purchase.
The thing that seriously pissed me off is she KNOWS I breed and sell reptiles...and she didn't ask me anything, and went to the pet store for everything when she knows I'm well versed in many things reptile and sell them and the supplies and food. She's just....ugh.

Sounds to me like an impulse purchase by the man..he probably brought it home and got the kid all excited about it..and she probably didn't want to be the mean mommy and take it away. I'm glad it got to you![]()
That is so sad.. perhaps the pet store she purchased it from could be contacted and told about the enclosure?I hope Spongebob recovers and does well for you! And thank GOD you took him in.

Oh I've talked to them until blue in the face. People have for years. It doesn't make a difference.

I still think Seri is engaging in animal abuse, depriving poor Spongebob of his Spongebob.
I just can't believe this whole thing, it is all just so wrong, from the petstore's horrible advice and care and to the parents rewarding their three-year-old with a living creature that it can't even properly handle or enjoy at their age...holy cow buy the kid a new toy or something- not a GECKO.
So glad you took this guy in, he looks so happy pigging out on CGD, he probably thinks he died and went to heaven.
