    Default Two females laying eggs?

    Hi there,
I'm new to cresties and I have recently been given what I was told were two female cresties and one of them is laying eggs. Is this usual?

It is. Females will/can lay infertile eggs, even when not exposed to males. Mine did this about a month ago, and I was under the impression she was a he, so you can imagine my surprise. Lol. But yes, this is common for female Crested Gecko's.

Thanks for this response. Just beginning to research these now, but had not seen that posted anywhere yet.

As long as I dust any crickets or feeder insects, are there any other supplements I should give them that are particularly important to them if they (or one of them) is producing eggs? Thank you.

They should be eating crested gecko diet (CGD), not dusted feeders. If you do that, they won't need anything else, including dusted insects.

Previous owners said they would not eat CGD so are were feeding them on baby food. I will try to swap them over, but is there any specific way of trying to do this that may be best? Maybe mix up CGD with some of the babyfood they will eat?

The best way to do this is to just stop with the baby food. That's what I did with mine. I was told to.give mine some extra calcium powder to help give back what she lost producing the eggs. (it takes a lot of calcium to lay eggs.) So get them both on the CGD and put a milk cap full of Calcium WITHOUT D3 in and they will be fine.

Are both your females housed together? What is their weight? Make sure they have a laybox to lay their eggs in.

They have apparently always been housed together with no problems. Will get them out later and weigh them, and will also use the opportunity of putting in a box for them to lay in. Thanks for the help.

Are you absolutely sure they are both female? It's not a guaranteed thing that all females lay dud eggs; many of my females have never laid infertile eggs.
