Wow, that must be a fancy pet store.I don't think I've ever seen Chahoua in any pet stores before. Typical price for a P.I. Chahoua ranges from $375 to $450. If they are fancier or sexed, probably more.
399 is the price for the tiny things. i'm guessing 8 or 10 grams for them. they had this nuu ami leachie too for 800 that was drop dead gorgeous and mid size but the chewies caught my eye. this is the same place i found my two latest extreme cresties at. didn't know if that was a good price for them. don't know if they were fired up or not.

If one of those is a female then thats a steal. Grab her up becuase it seems they are much harder to come by
Aum
i know with my cresties i can pore sex them around 10 grams or so with enough accuracy. i take it that is the same too with chewies then? i do remember females are not as easy to come by. maybe i'll have to go back and hold them and check the pores real quick. they're greyish white when i saw them so it shouldn't be too hard to figure it out. good price though and that is without shipping.

You can pore sex chewies to, but they seem to turn up male some times after 20 grams and the spots on the bellies make it very hard to see the pores ! =X
Just be sure to check closely for any issues with the jaw or tails. Sounds like a decent price to me, if they're healthy. Especially if either are females. I find checking for pores a lot more difficult on the chewies than i do with cresties.
Always check the Fauna BOI before you buy!

I would make sure, before you buy the animals, that you actually like their pattern/how they look in general. I do not recommend just buying because they are "cheap". You can find very nice P.I. Chahoua at reptile shows for $375-$400 (to avoid shipping costs). I would say keep shopping around if they are not something you absolutely love.
Also, rubberduckey makes an excellent point. Make sure to check it for any defects or deformities. Underbites, kinked tails, different sized eyes, etc...
But if you like the little guys and don't think you'll find something of their quality for $400 elsewhere, you would be wise to get them.
thank you for the suggestion and tips for these guys. the coloration i saw of them were just the black and white/grey tone. didn't see any color in them but maybe that is how some pines are in the first month or two. or it was cause they weren't fired up. i'll drop by there today and take a closer look at them. i understand from reading that gene pool was limited for chewies when they were brought over unlike the cresties. a bit better for the pines i believe. i'm not looking into them because they are cheap either. i hardly ever get into going to shows. not much time for that.

The colors take quite a number of months to develop. There was a thread about this recently that most chahoua do not get their adult colors until over a year old. Grays and browns typically change to something else completely different. Reds, greens, oranges, pinks and so on.Progression threads are fun to look at with chewies.
