    Default Couldn't resist...

So I finally broke down and bought my first Tokay. What on earth have I gotten myself into...

Only about 3-4 months, still unsexed.

How could I say no to that smile??

"I don't know if I like you yet..."

Here's the habitat I'm keeping him in. I'm thinking some more leaves would be a good idea.

I think I've decided on naming him/her Nibbler. I'm kind of a Futurama fan. If any veteran Tokay breeders/owners have any suggestions, they would be welcome.

Congrats on your new addition! Hopefully Nibbler won't be nibbling on you any time soon.

Can I ask about the pipe insulation? Did you just cut it bigger than the tank and wedge it in or did you attach it somehow? I'm thinking of adding some to a Crestie tank.

    Thanks!

I cut it a bit bigger than the tank and wedged it in there. I actually got the idea from here. It seems great for cresties, but I've actually taken it out of the tokay cage. He tends to hang out in his leaves or on the back wall mostly. Also, he may fit fine on the insulation, but he tends to go pretty rough on the crickets, so I got worried about him knocking it down. May reattach it once I get some magnets.

I bought a wild caught Tokay, and handled him twice a day for two weeks braving the biting and such. Bruce is fine now.. well I can take him out, and handle him with out being bitten or barked at Congrats!

Tokays prefer vertical hides like leaning cork slabs to the wedged tube. I have leaning cardboard tubes with cork bark in many of mine and where they sit depends on the gecko's personal preference. Cute lil bugger! Congrats and welcome to the club! Always great to have another Tokay lover!
