    Default quick questions

i just got my gecko Saturday, i have a 10 gallon with a tree and lot of leaf plats for burny to hide in. i am overly paranoid about my animals so sorry. my burny has been good i took out for the first time to feed 3 small crickets. and was well behaved. jumped to my shoulder and perched on me till i brought back into tank. a guide i read said to not take out more than 5 min a day for first week. for my bearded dragons i took them out a lot as hatchlings and still to this day. should i be more active in handling burny?
how do you tell if your gecko is not eating, i notice his gecko diet has lines in it as if something is lapping it up ( i stir it till when thick it leaves a spiral design , i used this trick on another animal so i figured it would work the same)

anyway has eaten 3 crickets, and just hangs in the tank all day so far, is active and moving a bit in day, but at night he watches all that happens in the house from the glass room(they are connected and has a glass door so easy visibility )
has fresh water and gecko diet (raphsy) daily.

i herd baby food can be addictive to them due to the sugars so i wasnt going that route. just water and diet.

when will i be able to sex the gecko? what is its growth rate in size?

Depends, some can be sexed as early as 2 grams some much later. you would have to have an experienced person to sex them early though. Also, growth rate differs depending on climate, amount of cgd & bugs they are eating & other facters. So its really hard to tell. I have some that just seem to shoot up & others that seem to just take there sweet old time.

How active should i be in handling my gecko ? I dont want to cause stress to burny.
and do these geckos darken and lighten? Burny was really dark burished color when i got it and now is a lighter color almost tan. Still cute but was wondering

I would stick to handling once a week for the first few weeks, when cleaning the tank. If he appears to tolerate it well, you can continue to do it as long as he's eating and pooping. Sometimes the only way to tell if they are eating is by seeing poop. Good luck with your new gecko!
