Hi. I've been lurking a bit and learned a lot and would like to thank everyone on here for all of the helpful discussion. With that out of the way, here's a bit about me:
I'm a musician/drummer/male and have always been fascinated by critters. I've had my share of hamsters, gerbils, mice, hermit crabs, etc. and tons of wild toad, frog, snake and turtle encounters filled my youth. Lizards have always fascinated me but living in the northeast, I never encountered any in the wild, despite several attempts to locate newts and salamanders when I was a boy. I had a cool little book (I think the title was "Reptiles and Amphibians") when I was a kid and I used to carry that with me everywhere, starting at all of the cool turtles, snakes and lizards, just wishing I could get my hands on some of them.
For some reason, I was never allowed to or never got any, probably a combination of price and my mom's idea of a 'cute' pet. I did manage to score an anole somewhere around age 13 or 14 (must have been something I did on my own with paper route money) but he managed to escape after only a few days. I was hearbroken.
Fast forward to present times....
I spend a week every year bass fishing in Orlando with a friend who owns a small house down there and LOVE all of the little critters that come out to bask on docks and trees around the lake during the day. Every year, I've considered getting a lizard but didn't know where to start. Luckily, Paul Morlock, aka "RhacHouse" is a good friend and inspired me with gargoyle stories. I stopped in to check out some of his vast collection and he brought this little guy over today:
My wife and I are torn between my name choice of "Gary" and hers ("Snacks"). Either way, I'm looking forward to providing a happy home for him, thanks to Paul and you folks.
Oh, here's me (I'm the guy in the back):
