*uses his CHIN.... not chic
I came home from work and found my gecko lying in the moss on the bottom of his terrarium. I removed him and found him lethargic and non-responsive, very cold. He is moving a little but has drawn all four limbs into his mody, he is also not picking up his head when he attempts to move OR uses his chic to lift his whole body to move a CM or two left and right... I have only had him a month and a half and am very fond of him.. All seemed fine when I left for work this AM.
*uses his CHIN.... not chic
We need a bit more data such as what he is eating, what temps he is housed at, humidity levels, and what type of cage he is kept in.
He eats CGD, temp and humidity range as proscribed in all the manuals. It is a large terrarium, 30x24x18 (he has a mate). I fear he might have taken a fall if he climbed on the top screen!
When you say manuals, what do you mean? Can you give us some exact ranges?
How long has he been with this mate? Is the mate also a male?
What have his poops looked like?
Do you have weights on the two?
When did you get both of them?
Do you have a backup cage, so you can separate them?
Where did you get the gecko, and do you have any pictures you can post?
R. auriculatus- Charmander, Cupcakes
R. ciliatus- GreenBean, LittleFoot, Hubert, Mr. Red, Captain Peanut Butter, unnamed baby
R. leachianus- Dragonite
40G planted freshwater community fish tank
5 5G planted Betta tanks
Sorry, I am new to the Crested Gecko thing and didnt realize the details were so important. I have attached a few photos
I actually think Rocky is female as is her mate.
Don't know what order the pictures will post in.
One pic is of the cage vivarium with a package of CGD to show size.
One pic is Tebow is the cage.
The picture of Rocky on the towel show my sick baby
4th picture if the theromometer and hydrometer. Curremt temp is 72 and humidity is 64
No weights on the geckos, sorry no scale
I got them both a week before christmas
Yes I have a small back up cagethat houses them when I clean their vivarium
Poops have looked "normal" bulbous as they pass, drop into cage like bird droppings
Having a mate...as in another gecko in his tank? Is this other gecko male or female? Not all geckos get along with each other, he could be getting bullied.
Do you have a small enclosure you can put him in, like a tub with just a fake plant on paper towel? Until you figure out what's going on, he should be separated and closely monitored. The variables should be minimized to rule things out.
He looks skinny down by his hips. I would definitely separate him to his own cage and gt him to eat some food. Put paper towels on the bottom so you can monitor poop. It may be best to get him to a vet as well to see what is really going on.
I am really sorry to hear that. How is the other one acting?
