Cool Crested Gecko Tips and Tricks

So I have been breeding Crested Geckos since 2004. I also love to photograph them and watch their colors change as they become adults. However, there are times when I wish I could get them to fire up on command.

I am interested to know any tips and tricks you might use to get your geckos to fire up quickly, without putting unwanted stress on these beautiful creatures.

Although I am sure there is no right or wrong answers, I am definitely interested in hearing the methods used by other enthusiasts.

    Thanks in advance!

Putting them in a suana or deli cup usually works.

I'll spritz my kids with room temp water and put them in a deli cup as Tara suggested, but some of my geckos will fire up just from some handling. A few of my babies I start taking photos of them fired down and gradually them jumping all over the place and me having to wrangle them in an area gets their blood pumping it seems.

Not quite sure what to say here. LOL. My gecko fires up after a couple min. of handling, and if she doesn't I mist her and give her a drink and that'll usually do it.

deli-cupping always seems to work for me, luke warm water, delicup, and put them in a dark room for a few minutes.

I do a modified version of the deli-cup technique. I set them up in a deli-sauna and drape (not wrap! Don't want to restrict the bugger) a wet paper towel or cloth on top of them. I find the more direct contact to the moisture gets them to fire up pretty quickly.

I too sometimes will drop a little damp bit of the paper towel on top of them. Some stay under it, sometimes I think they like it. It does work fairly well though.

I've haven't found what works with mine yet. I haven't handled my newst one all that much because I'd like her to settle in a bit more. Topaz seems to be always fired up. The first weekend I had her was the only time I've seen her fired down.
With my bf's, they fire up after a bit of handling but it seems to be just after we put them back in their cages that they choose to fire up >.<
