    Cool Anybody into building PCs?

It's been a back burner hobby of mine for about 10 years now.
Been working on my current rig since late '07/early '08.
It's taken me so long to complete because I get all the best stuff I can....... but only when I find a deal. Only about $1k. invested so far.
This stuff was basically the top of the line stuff back in 2006, but would've been probably $2k. - $2.5k. when it was "cutting edge" stuff.....

    My current gaming rig:
Compy case - NZXT Nemesis Elite(black) - 120mm. blue LED case fans x3, 80mm. blue LED case fans x2.

    Motherboard - abit Fatal1ty A9N-32X - nVidia 590SLI chipset.

Processor - AMD Socket AM2 3.2Ghz dual core Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition w/Coolermaster Cyclone fan. (overclocked to 3.6Ghz)

    RAM - OCZ Reaper w/heat spreaders - DDR2 240pin dual channel 800Mhz PC2 6400. (8GB total)

    Video cards - EVGA e-GeForce 9800GT - 1GB 600Mhz - 256bit - SLI ready. (x2 1GB cards linked w/SLI)

Power Supply - OCZ Fatal1ty 750W 80+ SLI Modular PSU.

    Hard Drive(s) - SeaGate Barracuda 7,200rpm. - 300GB(x3@100GB).

Next up to replace one of the 3 SeaGates HD's with, will be a Western Digital 10,000rpm Raptor to enhance faster loads and data transfer rate for gaming.
4.3.0 Rhacodactylus leachianus - Yatè, Mt. Koghis, Rivière Bleue, purple Nuu Ana, Poindimiè
    3.2.0 Rhacodactylus ciliatus
    1.1.0 Gekko gecko
    2.1.0 Python regius

Awesome. I'm into alienware laptops for sure. But in the long run it's way cheaper to build yourself than to buy the whole setup. That case is bangin though for sure.

Damn man, you're running dual 2GB video cards!?
I thought I was badass for running dual 1GB cards...

My system is crazy freakin badass, but your system must be leaps and bounds faster than mine!

Thanks bro....I play a lot of Command and Conquer. Mainly Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath. I like how I can play the whole game with just the mouse instead of having to hit keys all the time. What games do you play?

Yes and have been at it for about 8 years now. Latest rig was built earlier this year. More elegant solution than its predecessor.

    Case: Lian Li PC-351
    Motherboard:ECS Black Series A785GM-M AM3 785G R
    Processor: AMD X2 255
    Memory: 4GB (2 x 2GB) G.Skill RipJaw
    Optical: LG BluRay Burner
    PSU: Antec Earthwatts 380w
Hard Drives: 2 x 1TB Western Digital Black Caviar
    Video Card: Hauppauge 2250
    Networking: Asus N Dongle
    Misc: Rosewill Multi-Card Reader, Noctua fans throughout (120mm x 2 intake, 80mm x 1 exhaust, NH-U9B CPU Cooler)

OS: Windows 7 Pro (64 bit)

Thought about upgrading the motherboard and CPU (since I had better replacements at one time). Might consider upgrading the RAM with the cheap prices this day. Much cheaper built by me than a comparable system would cost me off the shelf.

The only disc based game I play anymore is Spore. It BARELY runs with the lowest settings on everything. I would soooo love a powerful set up.

Once I installed the 'Galactic Adventures' expansion pack, it was unplayable it lagged so bad. XD

It's not a hobby for me but I built my own computer and do all of the maintenance on it myself purely for the fact that it saves one a ton of money to do so.
