    Smile Your SO! :)

I'm not really a sappy person but one thing I do love is hearing people gush about their significant others. Sooo, tell us about him/her/it(?). How did you meet? How long have you been together? What do you love most about this person? What does s/he do that drives you crazy -- in good and bad ways? Tell us about your best memory with him/her. Tell us about some challenges you've overcome as a couple, etc., etc. Share pics too, if you like!

This is a sweet thought, because I was just feeling guilty that I don't appreciate my husband as much as he deserves. Hopefully writing down all of the wonderful things he does will make me more appreciative.

My husband is a rock star when it comes to household stuff- laundry, cleaning, kid care, bill paying etc. The transition from dual income, no kids to dual income, one kid has been tough - we are both older and probably set in our ways. He's really the partner that I need during this time.

Mike is also just a genuinely genuine person. Everyone likes him. He's a lot quieter than me but friendly and interested in others. When someone doesn't like Mike I am always suspicious of them, because there isnt' anything not to like about him.

He is an amazing dad - he loves the Monk desperately and loves to spend time with him but completely understands that little boys love their mommies and gives him space to be "my boy". He tolerates my moodiness and lets me sleep in EVERY weekend. Even though he's really a regular guy (he's a blue collar worker, and not a computer geek like me) he'd rather spend time with Monk and I than "hang out with the guys". He puts us first over anything else. He's intensely loyal.

I met mike 14 years ago at a softball game. A friend insisted i be a sub for their team (they needed a girl to play) and I sucked - I hadn't played softball in 12 years prior. I lost the game for the team but Mike was sooo nice - while other people were not so nice. He would yell directions to help me locate the pop flies and even when I dropped the last ball of the game, he was a gracious loser and very nice.

Another thing about my husband is that even though my weight yoyo's - he loves me fat or thin- sex doesn't slow down -he thinks I am hot no matter what. I appreciate this enormously. He's put up with my not wanting to get married for years, not wanting to be a parent for years (both things he wanted) - he waited for me to be ready. And he's no marshmallow - he stands up for himself, he's just a caretaker sort of person who likes taking care of household crap. I hate it.

He's wonderful to my family - especially my crazy 94 year old Grandmother, Mollie. They all adore him.

Thanks for giving me ten minutes to appreciate my spouse.

That is sweet I'm on nightshifts now while my SO is on days so we're on opposite schedules. It sucks being at work while knowing the SO is at home in bed sleeping soundly! Come Wednesday I'm back to days!

We met 6 years ago and instantly connected. My mom told me "Elise, I never tried to guess what kind of man you needed. But he's perfect for you." Which from her is a lot, since I'm the baby of the family.

One of our biggest obstacles was tone of voice/attitude. Tone of voice can make a happy conversation go to a fight in .5 seconds. We've been working on it for a couple months, and it makes things so much easier. It helps to think before you talk. Think about how they're going to receive the statement, and if that will represent what you're trying to convey. Nip it in the butt!

Things that drive me crazy - Repeating myself right after I said something. Things that make me love him even more - He's such a well mannered, good meaning guy. He loves me and protects me, and I try to do the same... Protection wise

My boogs name is Shawn. Funny story how we met. I met a guy at a concert, and I told him I'd add him on facebook but I added Shawn instead by accident thinking it was the guy I met. Things went frm there, we've been together for a year and a half, we have our own place together. I'm 19 turning 20, he's 25 turning 26. He looks after me so well, supports everything I want to do. He loves my animals, and he love the fact that I love my animals. He's amazing. He is currently in England for 2 weeks, and it's killing me! This is the longest we have been apart since we met. He told his parents after the day we met that I was the girl he's going to marry. I'm very close to his family and he's very close to my family. It's perfect.

    awwww, I like this thread!

I guess I can tell everyone about MY ball & chain His name is Paul.

    ok....thats it!

    HAHA, just kidding.

Paul and I actually met online while I was still dating my ex. Long story short, my ex was cheating on me and I was too stupid to walk away (first relationship, I was 16, so sue me.) So I decided to go online and start chatting it up with whomever. Well I came across Paul's Myspace page and we started talking. We actually talked online for a while and then I finally decided to give him my number. After that, we continued to talk on the phone all the time. We talked for 3 years! before we ever met in person.

I live in Michigan, at the time, approx. an hour from Canada. He was living around that area (near Canada) and I decided to head to Canada (underage drinking, so cool back then.) He ended up driving to Canada to see me. We spent the night just talking, hanging out and such.

After I left the next morning, I went straight to my ex's, broke up with him and Paul and I were dating a month later. On September 17, we will celebrate our 4 year anniversary. Best decision thus far in my life.

There is a lot more to that story, but I'm sure nothing anyone cares to hear about But all I can say is, no other boy (that I know) would put up with all my reptile purchases and animal obsessions. He is my one and only. No matter how much I may want to punch him sometimes!

Beth, I always worry that I take my boyfriend for granted. It is good to catch yourself and take a moment to stop, think and conscientiously remember how great your significant other really is.

I really enjoy stories about couples that met online. I think that one out of five relationships now start on the Internet or something like that. It's neat to see technology connecting people that otherwise might never meet.

Thanks for sharing, everyone, and keep 'em coming! I love reading these, for real. I forgot to mention that those of you that are married should tell us about the proposal and wedding -- and about any kids you two have together, of course.

I'll gab about him at some point, though I'm at work right now, so I'll have to do it later. :)

    This thread makes me smile.

My SO's name is Layne. I met him 3 years ago on Halloween night. The instant I met him, I HAD to know him. There was just a weird pull inside me. I just felt that if I didn't get to know this person, i'd be missing out. Things with my ex were ending (He had cheated on me for 3 months, then became a controlling ass and I wasn't allowed to go out anywhere without him).

We started hanging out and I fell HARD. I'd been in several relationships previously, but with him, it was completely different. I was always really hesitant with others, and felt like I couldn't talk about things that were on my mind, like I always had to keep my walls up. My ex was the "OMG ARE YOU BREAKING UP WITH ME" guy every time I'd call him or text him and let him know I needed to talk to him later about something.

With Layne, I can tell him ANYTHING. If i'm having a down day and feeling pretty sad for no reason whatsoever, he gets it. He gets me 100%. He enjoys cooking, he's very creative, intelligent, and to this day even over the years I still feel like the luckiest woman ever.

He protects me, he supports me, he makes me laugh, we have a lot of the same interests as well as a lot of different interests - He's just everything to me. At the end of the day, no matter what has happened I know that I can go home and all the bad will go away for the night because he's home and his presence just makes everything better.

One of his nicknames that I call him is "sexy man" lol. That's what I call him throughout the day while i'm at work and sending him a text. He is the most gorgeous man in the world to me.

Well I guess its a guys turn.
My Girl is Lanae. ( la Nay ) We met in 7th grade and I had a huge Crush on her but never acted on it. she was only at my school till the end of that year. Then one day while in 10th grade I was waiting at a bus stop to go see a movie with this girl i liked and her bus was late. Lanae was with one of her friends that recognized me and they came over. Instantly I had the same feeling I did when we were in 7th grade. I said hi then my friends Bus showed up and we left. A few days later I got ahold of the friend she was with and got her yahoo IM info... next thing ya know we were all about each other. I waited a few weeks till halloween and asked her to be mine. 9 months later she was pregnant. We were 16... But the good news is little did I know she also had a HUGE crush on me in 7th grade so its like it was meant to be.
We know have been together 5yrs and have 2 beautiful daughters. Life has been really hard but shes the girl I wanna struggle through it with.

The path to my SO is a twisted one. I was going to school with a guy who was cousin to a guy who was dating a girl who intro'd me to her brother. Her line was "do you like guys with goatees?" Uhhh l o l. I didn't have a problem with facial hair(???), so we met, became friends, now I'm in this girl's family and I'm sure she regrets it every day. That'll teach her to matchmake!

My husband is quiet, maybe comes off as a little aloof in person but he's just horribly shy. Get him into just about any game of sports though and he's suddenly all mouth; it is an amazing transformation, like a cute, silent caterpillar exploding into the most punchable testosterone-laden butterfly in the world.

As long as I'm not participating in sports with him, though, he's my perfect match. I pretty much spend every morning and night being thankful for being introduced to him. He tolerates the animal hobbies with excessive patience even if he couldn't really tell one gecko from the other (I sometimes drag him to reptile shows and while he doesn't generally know what's going on or what species is which, he appreciates that I can walk out of shows without buying something just to buy it and likes that I have specific goals in mind). His face lights up when I show him something I've accomplished and he tends to act a little overwhelmed when I've made something, whether it's a new meal or a new sculpture. He is the technical brawn and I am the flighty crafter and we are generally each often amazed at what the other's brain can pull off.

Also he can grow stubble at the speed of light :3

But he doesn't have a goatee anymore!
