    Default "Selling" Gargs

The other day I was at petco picking up a heat light for the gargs, and there was a woman and her daughter there -daughter was about 8 years old, looking at the herps. I was checking out the cutest, big, fat, orange stripe garg and I overheard their conversation. The mom was saying "Are you sure you can HOLD one of those?" referring to the russian tortoises they had. And then I heard the mother looking at other reptiles and just being horrified at mealworms.

I realized that they were like us -kid wants a herp, would prefer to feed non-live food, but I know how I ended up with gargs - its because the tortoises are just "TOO MUCH" - too much cleaning, too much cage size needed, too long a life for me to committ to. So I went over and apologized for intruding and told them a little bit about our path to get a gargoyle gecko. The mom said they were looking at tortoises - and I said that we had been too and I loved them but they need a huge amount of space, very specific heating requirements and they live to be 100. When I explained about the feeding and housing needs of a crested or a garg, and about our experience with ours - easy to handle, cute, tails even grow back (hehe) the mom listened carefully and looked at the big fat striped garg in there. She spoke further to a petco employee.

In the end they came over to me and thanked me - the mother said she was SOLD on the gargoyle gecko and thats what they would be getting.

    I AM a gargoyle evangelist.
