    Default Urgant temperature problems

I've been having problems with temps because of the sun. The past few weeks I've been watching the thermometer closely but it hasn't gone up at all which I thought was odd ( I had two heaters on past few weeks because it's been freezing) just staying on 70. However I recently acquired an electric thermometer which record the max/mins when checked the max today to my horror the max temp had been 87 degrees while I was at school. When I got home it was only 68 . I don't know what to do because it's getting really hot while im not there and I should turn both heaters off but before I get home it's dropped again so if I did turn them off he would be too cold. Does anyone else have similar problems or even better solutions? This heat cold kill my gecko. Thanks for reading my post and I really apriciate any responce

A crested gecko can deal fine with 68, but it cannot deal well with the higher temps you are reporting. I'd ditch the heat if 68 is the lowest it's going.

Is it possible to get a heater with a thermostat? I have a space heater that I set at 76, anytime it goes above 76 it turns off. If it goes below 76, it comes on. I got mine at Lowes.

It would get kind of like that in my house during the winters here too. (its already really hot here). I would have the heat on so that I wouldnt freeze and keep a window cracked open in the room where the geckos were so it would stay a little cooler in there. It created a nice breeze with some heat every now and then. Also, if this is no good for you then you can try closing the vent in the room with the geckos in it and keeping the door closed. That way it should stay cooler in there without any direct heat flowing in. Maybe keep the fan on too?

Do you have windows with drapes that are open? Is sunlight the issue or the heater? Sunlight will cause the temps to go up a lot.

You can get drapes that are lined pretty cheap and they really do a good job repelling the heat. You may want to look into those versus blinds. Hope you can get the temps settled!

Random question, but did you happen to have the thermometer in your car sometime before checking the temps. I noticed mine had an 87 reading when i was putting my geckos cage in the car one time. So are you sure this is happening while your at school and not due to something else?
