    Default Hissers

I picked these up from a local guy for $5 for all of them. I believe there are 6.6. I never got a close look at them until tonight while cleaning their tub. One of the males is pitch black! It's really pretty. I'm not sure if this is maybe common with hissers or what, but thought I'd share some pics

Cool! What kind is that? Hard to see and tell. I have the G. portentosa here.

Deb - they are all Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches but there are many species of them all under the Gromphadorhina Genus. The black one maybe a G. portentosa. They are suppose to be red but I have seen some so dark they look black... it looks like it has the horns like mine does. The others look like G. Portentosa... but I'm no expert so you will want to double check. IMHO you ended up with 2 different species. Lots of people keep mix colonies of them so it would not surprise me if that was the case.

That's what I was thinking (him being a different species). Once I get home I'll look into it. Hard to do on phone lol

What book is it you have Deb? I would love to find a good book on them so suggestions would be wonderful. All the info I have is from forums and care sheets.
