Eeewww i can't stand roaches! i usually feed them to my crestie immediately but i coat with calcium + a tiny bit of CGD and that works fine. i used to keep them for a while and i fed those gel-packs that prevent drowning or gel cube with a cup of water that has a paper towel and a lid on it (hard to explain well but it works).

I just now looked at the label of the orange cricket food, and it says:

"Fluker's Orange Cube Complete Cricket Diet"

"Orange^3 is the complete solution to provide the three things crickets need most: food, water, and vitamins. It is specially formulated to be easily digested by both crickets and the animals that will consume them. ...

Feeding Directions: Orange^3 should be used as a primary source of food for your crickets. ... Add Orange^3 as needed to ensure the crickets always have access to the food."

Of course labels can be deceiving. (Take the cubed crested gecko food, for example!) So is it ok to feed this to the crickets all the time, or just for their last 24 hours?
*** My "N" key is actig up. Luckily, there's no "N" in "crested gecko" or "Rhacodactylus ciliatus".***

Yes, I think if they like it, go for it. It's low in protein (4%) but unless you are raising crickets should be fine. The calcium is 375 ppm (0.0375%) so that's not going to kill them. I think it's adequate. Just dust them and they should be good to go.

I don't think anyone's done any trials to see if any gutloads are better than others. Perhaps Allen Repashy has though since he makes SuperLoad.

mine have done really well on the cat/fish food mixture. not many died off this time and the ones i have left from 2 weeks ago have gotten big and juicey looking those cubes things seem like a waste of money since you can feed crickets almost anything

has anyone had geckos that eat dead crickets? i watched the other day as Sandy ate a squished cricket that looked hard and crispy. somehow it got caught under a plant pot and when i took it out for watering she discovered it and happily ate it. yuck! would there be any harm in feeding dead crix IF they'll eat them?

I don't think the odd dead cricket remaining in the tank will be harmful, but I would avoid purposely feeding a dead cricket. I'd be afraid of "bad" bacteria building up in the gut. The process of decomposition could bring out an imbalance of gut flora within the gecko. But I don't really know what goes on after the bugs kick the bucket.
