Question New Crested Gecko Sexing Method?

I've noticed that most males have a "thingy" visible partially in the vent. Such as in this photo.

While most females don't. Such as this one.

Did anyone else notice this? Could it be a new sexing method? I've seen it on Mocha and he has pores so nowI'm thinking he's male, while I haven't seen it on Gusteau and he/she has no pores. I'm starting to think Gustea is acutally a Colette. I think I have boy and girl buddies!

If this is a legit method, I don't think you can see the "thingy" until after the bulge develops so at that point you know you have a male. I'll need to go double check my young boys (that sounds awful).

Well my Mocha (4.1 grams) doesn't even have a bulge a I can usually see this "thingy" sticking out. I do see pores on him though. Gusteau (6.1 grams) doesn't have any pores nor a bulge and I'm thinking his new name is Colette. I don't think it hurts them though. Just a little awkward. My geckos don't seem to mind though.
